The Harmony Arts Ethos

Making our world a more playful place to learn.

Harmony Arts Company recognizes that there are multiple forms of intelligence and diverse learning styles. Our mission is to create an environment for learning the arts that honors both these truths.

HolisticIntelligence

A theory proposed by Harvard psychologist Howard Gardner suggests that there are 9 forms of intelligence. As opposed to Verbal-Linguistic, Mathematical, or Musical Intelligence, Bodily-Kinesthetic Intelligence refers to one’s ability to control body movements and to handle objects skillfully. People with bodily-kinesthetic intelligence can learn more easily by doing, exploring, and discovering.

The Harmony Arts Company promotes the cultivation of bodily-kinesthetic intelligence and self-confidence by offering programs that develop technical skills, dexterity, sensory experience & creative play.

Honoring The Holistic Child

In 2020, the creator of Harmony Arts Company enrolled her sons in a farm-based homeschool enrichment program, where parent(s) are required to attend each class with child.  She was introduced to Raffi’s life-changing Child Honoring Principles and Michele Borba's book: Thrivers, which would eventually transform her experience as a mother and teacher.

Having began motherhood as a self proclaimed drill instructor/tiger mama, it took two more years of introspective and literary research, before she observed the transformative effects that honoring the holistic child and cultivating emotional intelligence has on the learning experience.

Ultimately, she found that when an educator approaches education with presence, compassion and curiosity it allows the learning mind to illuminate, comprehend, receive direction, and cultivate multiple forms of intelligence.
